Welcome to Clear Drain Cleaning!

There are some sayings that ring true more than others. “It’s a dirty job, but somebody has to do it,” and, “you get what you pay for” are two that perfectly describe Clear Drain Cleaning.

Owner Seth Miller created Clear Drain Cleaning in May 2011 as an offshoot of his father’s business, Miller Septic Cleaning. “I’d grown up around my father’s business all my life,” said Miller. “I started Clear Drain Cleaning because we were getting a lot of calls from people needing this kind of work done, and it dovetails well with what we are doing with the septic cleaning and liquid-waste hauling.”

Being part of a family-owned business that has been in existence for over 30 years not only taught Miller about the drain- and septic-cleaning business, but also how to carry on the tradition of quality and prompt, professional service at an affordable price. “I’ve since purchased the septic cleaning business in January 2014 and am committed to continuing our service to the residents of Holmes, Wayne, Tuscarawas, Coshocton, Stark, Ashland and Carroll counties,” he said.

Along with punctual service, Miller believes having the right equipment used by knowledgeable employees is what sets his business apart. “Because we specialize exclusively in sewer and drain cleaning (we’re not plumbers and have no intention to be), we feel it is necessary to carry any and all the equipment possible to open and clean a line,” explained Miller. “Our strong points are residential and commercial drain cleaning. We service small drain lines from 1-¼ inches (bathroom sinks and kitchen-sink lines) and 4-inch sewer lines (from a house to the city or septic tank) all the way up to 16- to 18-inch culvert lines. We have new and reliable equipment, so we have all of our ‘ammo’ at our disposal to open the line however it needs to be done. Whether it’s power snaking a line, televising a line with a sewer camera, or hydro jetting a line with high-pressure water, we can do it all in one stop.”

Although each service call is unique in its own way, some jobs can be harder than others. “We have had many difficult jobs that require some ingenuity to get the problem solved,” said Miller. “We get calls from customers who say, ‘XYZ Plumbing was out here and couldn’t get it open.’ Often, they’ve run a power snake and the line wouldn’t open. That is where our equipment and specializing in only sewer and drain cleaning comes in.”

Miller explained that he was recently called to fix a problem another company couldn’t solve. “He couldn’t get past a certain spot due to Wet Wipes that had been flushed. They called us in and, with our hydro-jetter tool, we fixed a problem in 20 minutes that the other guy had been working on for four hours. It was quicker, it cleaned the pipe better and the homeowners were ecstatic to have their toilets, shower and laundry working and draining again.

While usual business hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., sewer backups and drainage problems aren’t ever planned and often happen at the most inopportune times. That’s why Clear Drain Cleaning offers emergency service as well. “I always answer the phone,” Miller said. “If it is after hours, we discuss whether the situation can wait. If not, then we will gladly serve our customers at any time.” “As silly as it may sound, we’re passionate about what we do. We enjoy helping a customer and fixing a problem they couldn’t get fixed,” said Miller. “When a drain is stubborn and backed up, we can open it and restore flow to a household. It gives us a sense of satisfaction that goes deeper than just a job.
